We Are... DISCIPLES OF JESUS MAKING DISCIPLES FOR JESUS
Simply put, we are a diverse group of people who love Jesus. We gather on Sundays, during the week in Life Groups, and in other contexts to share life and hope together. Jesus has changed our lives, and although we are not perfect, we are committed to following and trying our best to be like Him.
We’re all about relationship, with Jesus and one another. Faith and following Christ was never meant to be a journey made in isolation. We believe church is not a place to attend but a family to belong to. As a result we also value authenticity. Genuine Christ-centered community free’s us to be honest and transparent about who we really are.
We believe that the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God, fully complete and without error. As such we are committed to reading, studying, teaching, and growing in our understanding of it so that we can better apply it to our lives.
When speaking about the broken, hurting, sick, and poor in our world Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” We are compelled to reach out with the same generosity, love, and compassion that Jesus demonstrated.
Gospel means “good news”. At Avonhurst Pentecostal Assembly we believe this news was never meant to be kept to ourselves but must be shared. We are compelled to go into all the world proclaiming this gospel.
We believe that the presence of God is not limited to a building or place but that He lives in us and is available today. We also believe that when we gather together He meets with us. As a result we value spending time in his presence in genuine worship where we lift up and magnify our God together.
